The course will review the legal and judicial process in the United States covering the common law system, jurisdiction of federal and state courts, and the general process of judicial review. Explanation of different sources of law including statutes, court cases and administrative agency rules. Review of basic legal reasoning and primary authority analysis. Introduction to trial procedure and substantive survey of laws including, but not limited to torts, contract law, criminal law, and property law. Also included is a review of the principles of legal ethics.
