Transfers ToCSUDescriptionMethods and principles of supervising student teachers, volunteers, staff, and other adults in early care and education settings. Emphasis is on the roles and development of early childhood professionals as mentors and leaders. The role of the experienced classroom teacher who functions as a mentor to new teachers while simultaneously addressing the needs of children, parents, staff, and community resources will be emphasized. Students study effective models for guidance and evaluation of adults, positive communication skills, and the role of the mentor in a teaching environment. This course is designed for students who plan to supervise other adults in the early childhood classroom. This course is required for the levels of Master Teacher, Site Supervisor, and Program Director for the Child Development Permit issued by the State of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
