The course will provide the student with knowledge of syndromes, disorders, and disease specific to the pediatric population using an integrated approach to development and a focus on health care promotion (physical, psychosocial, emotional, mental, and spiritual) with the family as the unit of care. The course delivers an extensive coverage of age appropriate therapeutic communication, disorders and health problems specific to age groups, as well as childhood needs specific to; nutrition, play, safety, dental care, sexuality, sleep, self-esteem, and, of course, parenting.
