This course builds on the foundation of knowledge established in NUR 116. Coverage of selected medical-surgical disorders continues to emphasize the application of the nursing process in the assessment, plan, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care. Obstetrical nursing includes prenatal, labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn care. Pediatric nursing introduces care of children, emphasizing age and developmentally-appropriate care, for common selected childhood disorders.
