    Description
    This course needs to be taken during the first semester of the VN Fast Track program. The coursecovers theories of basic nursing, legal/ethical aspects of nursing care, therapeutic communication techniques, and cultural and ethnic considerations. It also includes an introduction to nursing concepts and rationales for nursing skills. The Nursing Process is presented and stressed as the essence of meeting the client's needs and providing total patient care. This course begins with a focus on the physiological nursing needs of adult clients and then progresses into specific nursing healthcare of the respiratory, cardiac, and endocrine systems, along with urgent alterations in health. This course also provides the student with the nursing knowledge required to assist the patient facing end-of-life issues and Alzheimer's disease. For the first 17 weeks, the course is scheduled for 11 hours per week and the 18th week is scheduled for 13 hours due to BVNPT andTitle IV regulations to meet minimum total program hours of 1530 and 576 hours of theory.
