    Description
Eng 140 surveys representative American literature from the late 19th Century to the present, including works from the Age of Realism, the Modernist Period and the Post-modern eras. Students read, discuss, evaluate, critique, and write about the themes of these periods which reflect relevant social, political, cultural, philosophical, and religious issues. Students will study the influences that shaped American writing from the post-Civil War era to the present day. The writing of a research paper of not less than seven pages in length, organized in the appropriate format and displaying a basic knowledge of methods of scholarly documentation, is a key course requirement.
