The intersections between the family and other social institutions as well as diversity of families will be central foundations for this course. Issues of privilege and inequality will be explored, along with social justice as it pertains to families. Using sociological analysis we will examine family as an institution, including historical and recent changes, present nature and the socio-cultural and economic forces shaping these changes.
