    Description
    This course covers world history from prehistoric humans to 1600. There is a comparative approach to the study of specific themes including political, social, and economic change. There will also be a focus on the role of race, gender, and ethnicity in the shaping of world history. Emphasis is given to the rise of civilizations, the emergence of global economies, innovations in science and technology in addition to cultural, intellectual and religious traditions. Same as HIST A161H ; students who complete HIST A161 may not enroll in or receive credit for HIST A161H . May be taken for grades or on a pass-no pass basis.
