Explores interdisciplinary scholarship that examines the historical, cultural, and ideological forces that shape LGBTQ+ identities. Considers how queer and trans groups organize and present themselves through activism, resistance, cultural organizations, media, etc. Highlights ongoing struggles for decolonization, equity, and social justice with an emphasis on how queerness intersects with race, class, immigration status, dis/ability, and other categories. Students will leave empowered to make contributions to their own communities.
