Transfers ToCSUDescriptionAccepted For Credit: CSU Offered: Fall & Spring Semesters, Every Year Nursing 303 is the third course in the Nursing sequence and builds on the foundation of the first semester Nursing courses. This combined specialty course focuses on nursing care to the childbearing and child rearing family across the continuum of health. The course continues with the role of the professional nurse within the complex multi-roles of a family. Therapeutic communication and caring behaviors are expanded to include the family unit and developmental level of children. Obstetric health topics include pregnancy, labor and delivery, and postpartum care of the mother and the neonate/newborn. Women's health topics are addressed across lifespan. Children's health includes normal development; pediatric illness and disease; and congenital anomalies. Nursing competencies are acquired in the skills lab with simulated learning experiences include high/low fidelity scenarios and virtual software.
