This specialty course provides investigators with hands-on training in the multi-faceted area of human trafficking and related undercover operations. Topics covered include human trafficking victimology; victim-centered approaches to investigations; laws and legal applications; potential ethical issues; evidence collection; and proactive case development to include technology used to commit human trafficking crimes (internet) as well as technology available to solve crimes. At the conclusion of this course the student/investigator is able to interpret and apply laws related to human trafficking crimes; demonstrate competency in investigating crimes related to human trafficking; identify, access, and preserve crime-related physical and electronic evidence; properly and legally conduct undercover operations; and successfully prepare for and assist in the prosecution of human trafficking cases.
