These skills will not be taught in the course, rather they will be the starting point for advanced officer training that builds upon them. These minimum knowledge and skill levels include familiarity with Vehicle codes used in policing, speed laws, vehicle and patrol techniques, and positioning. The purpose of this course is to improve speed enforcement through the proper and efficient use of RADAR (Radio Detection and Ranging)/LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) speed-measuring device. The course provides information on Radar operations; enforcement principles of stationary and moving Radar/Lidar exercises; and case law. Not applicable to associate degree.
