Major topics include immigration, politics, law, citizenship, racialization, religion, language, colonialism, imperialism, war, family, social movements, education, and employment. This course provides a comparative context for understanding ethnic, social, and political solidarity among Asian Americans and across racialized minority groups. Field trips may be required as part of this course, including to the Asian American Art Initiative at Stanford; the Chinese American Museum of Northern California; and the Native Experience Walking Tour in San Francisco, among others.
