    Offered: Fall & Spring Semesters, Every Year This course concentrates on water-based media painting. Instruction focuses on watercolor painting. Acrylics, inks, dyes, gouache, and tempera may also be included in the instruction. Brush techniques from Chinese ink painting are explored and the investigation of various papers are included. Students work with various techniques, including wet into wet, wet on dry, glazing, and masking. Topics include materials and best practices; color theory; and historical and contemporary approaches to watercolor painting in a multicultural context. Students need to acquire art supplies such as water-based paint media, paper, and brushes. (GC)
