Historical linguistics presents a cross-cultural study of language origins, language change, language families, and dialects. Ethnolinguistics and sociolinguistics present the study of language acquisition and nonverbal communication,emphasizingtherelationshipbetweenlanguageandculture, and issues of language conservation and language loss.
