This course introduces international film studies by considering film language, international audiences, relationships between film and socio-political ideologies, technological diffusion and innovation, and film content. This course will discuss significant film movements throughout Europe, Asia, Latin America, and Africa, both chronologically and comparatively, to explore the ways in which film has evolved as an art form, entertainment medium, and commercial enterprise throughout its history.
