- This courses offers students a historical survey of photography from its ancient origins through contemporary digital practices. The course emphasizes technological, artistic, cultural, and social developments, as well as the impact of photography on science, politics, and visual culture. Students will engage with primary sources, critical readings, and historically-based projects to deepen their understanding of photography's history and legacy.
