In addition to developing familiarity with basic musical concepts, this course is designed to assist students in developing an appreciation and respect for the cultures and music of Africa, China, Japan, Central Asia, India, Indonesia, Latin America, the Middle East, Eastern and Western Europe, Native America, and the Caribbean as well as American folk traditions.
