    Description
    This course traces the historical and political experiences of African Americans from colonial times to the present. It examines the differences between the experiences of African Americans and other ethnic groups. Students will encounter the social, economic, and legal institutions which characterized being black in the US at various periods in the nation's history. Close study of several major events and political movements will allow students to develop interpretations of political interaction in America. *Cross-listed as HIST-160H .
