Transfers ToCSUDescriptionThis course teaches engineers how to analyze material selection and calculate physical stress parameters. Analyses will include plane stress-strain, axial, torsional, bending and shear stresses, including combined loads, Mohr's Circle, principal stresses and strains, and pressure vessels. Students will study Hooke's Law and material properties; allowable stress and factor of safety; statically indeterminate members; shear and moment diagrams; moment-area; slope by double integration; singularity functions; superposition; Catigliano methods; thermal expansion; indeterminate forms; and column buckling.
