Emphasis is placed on analysis of the dances of Colonial America, minstrelsy, vaudeville, Broadway, Hollywood Musicals, and television. Ballet, modern/contemporary dance, and American forms created from a fusion of diverse influences found here in the United States, including jazz, Latin, tap, and hip hop styles are investigated for their cultural and historical significance.
