    This course provides a survey of mass communication and explores the relationships between media, people, and society. The course covers media history, structure, and trends in books, newspapers, magazines, radio, television, recorded music, film, home video, and the Internet. Students will research mediums, apply theories, and analyze media effects within the context of economics, technology, law, ethics, and social issues. *Cross-listed as JOUR-111 .
