Crime measurement, theories, causes and responses to crime, components of the system, and current challenges are examined. This course also examines the history and evolution of the principles, approaches, and the evolving forces which have shaped the criminal justice system. Students discover the origins and development of criminal law, legal process, and sentencing and incarceration policies.
