Students must have previous musical training, a standard band instrument, and pass an entrance audition. A variety of wind band repertoire will be studied and performed, from music of the medieval period to contemporary compositions. Public performances on campus and in the community are required each semester, and a concert tour may be included. Opportunities to conduct, arrange and compose music, and perform as a soloist may be provided to capable students.
