    FIT S3A, FIT 1, EMS 50 and EMS 51 Limitation on Enrollment (e.g. Performance tryout or audition): Successful completion of the Certified Physical Abilities Test (CPAT or Biddle) within nine months of the start date of the Fire Academy, and a Fire Academy Medical Clearance once the student has been offered placement in the Fire Academy Program

    Description
    Description: Provides individuals with the knowledge and skills to safely perform, under minimal supervision, essential and advanced fire ground tasks. Tasks include basic rescue operations, auto extrication, basic fire suppression, fire prevention, fire investigation, Incident Command System (ICS), hazardous materials, and tool selection and identification. Students will also learn to use, inspect and maintain various types of firefighting and rescue equipment. Completion of this course satisfies the manipulative and academic training requirements as established by the California State Fire Marshal to become certified as a Firefighter I. (Required certification and equipment fee: $1,882. Fees may be subject to change in this academic year at the discretion of State Fire Training.) 261.00 hours lecture and 378.00 hours laboratory. (Letter grade or Pass/No Pass option)
