Reinforces and expands listening, speaking, reading and writing skills through the analysis of cultural, philosophical, historical, and literary works and the study of grammar unique to Spanish heritage speakers’ needs and experiences. Analyzes historical and current events, art, multimedia, arguments and literary works of prominent Chicanx, Latinx, and Spanish figures. Develops a critical awareness of the linguistic diversities and sociopolitical issues of the Spanish-speaking world. Emphasizes the appreciation and value of the diversity of Hispanic cultures of all Spanish-speaking countries, with an emphasis on the United States.
