    Description
This course offers sociology majors an opportunity to pursue special topics, conduct additional readings and complete literature reviews, embed in an organization, and/or gain research experience independently or as part of faculty projects. Students may choose field study, internship, directed reading, or research lab and practicum. Interested students should contact the Sociology Department Chair. Working closely with a Sociology instructor to consider their interests, major/degree area, transfer, and career goals, a student develops an independent study plan, and the supervising faculty approves the enrollment and facilitates the semester completion through regular meetings and progress checks. Credit is earned by completing the plan and delivering an analytical paper or creative project, literature review, or research report.
