Approval of equivalent training is not a guarantee; state regulatory or licensing agencies will also grant equivalency. Prior to enrolling in these courses students must already be familiar with and be able to demonstrate all of the skills taught in a basic law enforcement academy. These will not be taught in the course; rather, they will be the starting point for advanced officer training that builds upon them. Transfers ToNot transferableDescriptionThis variable-hour practicum course introduces employees to the job requirements of the law enforcement officer, including legal aspects, procedures, policies, and agency protocols. The course provides necessary training, supervision, and performance assessment of a California law enforcement officer-trainee. This course meets minimum certification standards required by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) and is mandated for all California Peace Officers according to POST regulation.
