    Prerequisite
    POST Basic Certificate or equivalent; Participation in advanced officer training courses requires a prerequisite of completion of the following: Commission on Police Officer Standards Training (POST) certified basic law enforcement academy diploma or equivalent as determined by the Dean of Academy Instruction. Approval of equivalent training is not a guarantee; state regulatory or licensing agencies will also grant equivalency. Prior to enrolling in these courses students must already be familiar with and be able to demonstrate all of the skills taught in a basic law enforcement academy. These will not be taught in the course; rather, they will be the starting point for advanced officer training that builds upon them.     Description
    This course is designed for students responsible for handling crimes related to prostitution, human trafficking, and a variety of nuisance crimes (animal fighting, gambling, loitering, piracy, and lewd and lascivious acts). Students in this course are exposed to a series of various scenarios, including ABC buy/ bust exercises, prostitution stings, undercover surveillance practicals, and use of website searches for out-calls. This course also provides training on technology used to commit crimes (the internet), technology available to solve crimes, the proper use of informants, and legal considerations and ethical issues.
