Transfers ToNot transferableDescriptionThis introductory-level course explores social, political, economic, and historical aspects of the Chicana/o experience in the United States, using models and paradigms developed within Chicana/o/x Studies as an interdisciplinary field. It offers a multidisciplinary examination of representation, ideologies, and material conditions of Chicanas and Chicanos, including colonialism, race, labor, immigration, poverty, assimilation, gender, and patriarchy. The course provides a comparative study of the socio-economic and cultural conditions between Chicanas/o /Latinas/o and other ethnic groups through an examination of community activism and cultural praxis.
