    Description
    This course examines the history of African Americans in the United States since the end of the American Civil War. It examines the significant incidents, laws, themes, experiences, and African Americans who helped to form American history. It addresses how African Americans have historically and now been oppressed by institutions, policies, social norms, and laws. It examines how African Americans have shaped American politics, society, and the economy, from Reconstruction to the Jim Crow era to the modern Civil Rights Movement, the Black Power Movement, and the Black Lives Matter movement. Offered as ETNC 25 and HIST 25 ; credit may be earned only once. Portions of instruction may be offered online; may also be offered fully online.
