    Description
    This course is a history of the United States from the perspective of people of African ancestry and introduces students to major historical events in African American history from the colonial era to 1877. It will examine the Middle Passage and the transatlantic slave trade, African American slave cultures and communities, slave resistance, and freedom movements during slavery. It examines how African Americans have contributed to and shaped American culture and history, as well as how American history has impacted them. Offered as ETNC 24 and HIST 24 ; credit may be earned only once. Portions of instruction may be offered online; may also be offered fully online.
