    This course examines the psychological, physical, neurobiological, and behavioral effects of psychoactive drugs, including stimulants, depressants, opioids, psychedelics, and cannabis, as well as drug therapies for mental disorders. The course discusses the history of drug development and regulation and the prevalence of use and abuse of these drugs, both historically and currently. The course also explores individual and social factors impacting health outcomes, quality of life, and overall functioning, short- and long-term consequences of drug use, and how these are related to prevention and treatment programs.
