    Description
    This course is an introduction to critical thinking, logic, and critical writing. Students will learn skills of practical reasoning, logic, and argumentation, with emphasis on application of these logic skills in the analysis, evaluation, and writing of argumentative essays. Topics include: critical reading, argument analysis, evaluation of arguments, logic, sound versus inductive reasoning, clarifying ambiguity, meaning and definition, evaluating evidence and information sources, common mistakes in reasoning (formal and informal fallacies), and techniques of propaganda. The class emphasizes critical writing strategies. Course written assignments will total at least 5,000 words of writing.
