    Introduction to Mexican literature from its Colonial Period to the present. Emphasis on chronological survey of major works of Mexican writers studied in English translation and selected from the following: chronicles, epistles, poetry, novels, drama, and short stories. The course examines the historical, economic, social, and cultural forces that identify Mexican literature and make it unique compared to the literature of other countries in Latin America.
