    Description
Organic Chemistry 1 is the first semester of a two semester sequence that covers bonding, acid-base relationships, nomenclature, stereochemistry, conjugation, resonance, mechanisms, reactions, synthesis and advanced spectroscopy of several functional groups. Laboratory includes basic techniques, (e.g., separatory methods such as extraction and chromatography), as well as emphasis on MS, UV-vis, IR and NMR analysis. A one hour discussion each week will cover advanced problem solving of lecture topics. Students may not earn credit for both CHEM 112 and CHEM 122.
