    Description
A survey of photography as a visual language. Students will explore photographs from a variety of perspectives to enhance visual literacy and understand the diverse uses of photographic images in our culture. These include advertising, journalism, social media, fine art, and science. Through the application of various photographic tools and strategies for image creation, students will practice visual thinking and awareness in interpreting and producing images. Current issues affecting contemporary photography are discussed, including the interaction between traditional and digital capture methods, as well as digitally generated imagery, and their impact on our understanding of truth, reality, society, and culture.
