Transfers ToNot transferableDescriptionThis course critically examines the principles and applications of police administration, discretion, accountability, inclusive workforce strategies, public relations, new technologies, and changing constitutional criminal procedures. Students analyze crime prevention strategies that address the underlying local conditions contributing to recurring offenses, including targeting high-crime places, repeat offenders, and repeat victimization. The course explores ways to enhance crime analysis, evaluate program effectiveness, and build sustainable partnerships among law enforcement, community stakeholders, and academic researchers. Emphasis is placed on sociological frameworks that explain organizational behavior, inequality, and power in public safety institutions.
