Transfers ToNot transferableDescriptionIn this course students will be introduced to the history of over-the-counter (OTC) drugs, and how they differ from prescription medications. OTC drug classes will be covered, and students will learn to differentiate the various active ingredients, combination formulations, and dosage forms found in OTC products. Students will also be introduced to common health devices such as blood glucose monitors, blood pressure machines, contraceptives, and test strips. In addition, students will explore how OTC products and devices are categorized in the pharmacy. (noncredit course - not degree applicable)
