    Description
    History 017AH is a survey of the political, economic, social, and cultural development of the United States from Native American settlement in America through Reconstruction. More rigorous assignments and research are expected in this course than in HIS 017A. Topics covered include the interaction between the indigenous peoples and European settlers in the development of the colonies, origins and consequences of the American Revolution, the development of democracy and constitutional government in America, westward expansion, the early factory system, isolationism and American foreign policy, slavery and its impact on race relations, antebellum reforms, abolitionism and sectional conflict, causes and consequences of the Civil War and Reconstruction. Students cannot get credit for both HIS 017A and HIS 017AH. Enrollment in the Honors Transfer Project is required. Pass/No Pass Option. C-ID # HIST 130.
