Transfers ToUC and CSUCal-GETC Area 4 · CSU GE Area DDescriptionThis honors course prepares students with extensive theoretical knowledge to function competently in diverse interpersonal contexts by guiding them through major theories, concepts, ethical dilemmas, and underlying research methods framing the exploration of social interaction in interpersonal relationships. Through contemporary, historical, and cross-cultural lenses, students examine how interpersonal relationships function or are influenced by organizational, cultural, familial, and societal structures, as well as how those structures shape the framework for the behavior of the individuals in the interpersonal relationship. Through applied research and experiential learning, students will identify, evaluate, and practice communication competence related to self-awareness, verbal and nonverbal communication, effective listening, emotional expression, and conflict management to create satisfying relationships. Students cannot receive credit for both COM 008 and COM 008H. Enrollment in the Honors Program is required.Usually HeldMon Wed 10:55am–12:20pm
