Transfers ToCSUDescriptionStudents study classic and contemporary vocal jazz repertoire through vocal jazz ensemble rehearsal and performance. They present concerts and festivals on campus and throughout the community as well as concert tours. Students develop beginning-intermediate vocal or instrumental skills, sight reading skills with beginning-intermediate intervals and syncopated rhythms, and perform at least one solo using melodic shaping and intermediate improvisation concepts, using a student-prepared lead sheet. Students are required to attend professional jazz performances. Second level of four semester enrollments.
