It examines major pre-Columbian Indian cultures, Native American heritage, European exploration, conquest, and colonization, and the growth of independence movements. It also studies the diverse cultures, societies, economies, political structures, and constitutions of Latin America, Canada, and the United States from a comparative perspective.
