Topics include the social, political, creative aspects, philosophies, traditions, and economic experiences of Black people in America and throughout the world. Students explore the full scope of the African Diaspora and their experiences and responses to the economic, political, and socio-cultural production of; "Blackness" Key topics include African origins, African diaspora, colonization, slavery, race, racialization, anti-blackness, migration, civil rights, power, education, mass incarceration, cultural expression, segregation, decolonization, Black empowerment, and culture with a focus on agency, resistance, self-determination, liberation and social justice.
