    Description
    <b><font color="7A0018">Begins Fall 2025</b></font><br> This course is an introduction to understanding and signing American Sign Language and appreciating the basic elements of the Deaf culture. Emphasis is on obtaining a practical command of the language, including major grammatical components, basic ASL sentence structures, nonmanual gestures, expression of spatial relationships in a visual-gestural language, and beginning conversational skills.
