    Description
    This course is a survey of significant films and advancesinthecreation,receptionandinfluenceofcinemafrom 1960tothepresent.Instructionwillincludetheinternationalreach and commercial success of the film industry, the hegemony of Western film, the maintenance and the re-tooling of Hollywood as a labor force from the Classical period to the present. Also, this course charts the filmic conventions and advancements of narrativeanddocumentaryfilm,andhowfilmisusedasapolitical argument or as indoctrination. Analyses will include varying film criticisms from feminist to Marxist to reception theory, among others.
