- American Sign Language 1 is a beginning course in everyday communication with the Deaf community. This course provides an introduction to vocabulary, idioms, grammar, the cultureofthedeafcommunity,andappropriatebehaviorforsocial interactionwiththedeaf.Thecourseisdesignedforstudentswho have no knowledge of ASL and uses only the target language in class.
