    This course will provide a historical and global overview of the visual arts from the middle of the 19th Century, exploring how the understanding of art has evolved. Art movements that will be explored include: Post-Impressionism, Cubism, Surrealism, Modernism, Abstract Expressionism, Pop Art, Performance Art, Land Art, and more. The works of prominent artists will be examined within their broader historical, political, and social contexts. Students will be introduced to various methodologies employed by art historians, particularly close visual analysis. ADVISORIES: English C1000 or C1000H (A, CSU)
