    This course presents an overview of the physiological processes and impacts of psychoactive drugs on the person. Emphasis is placed on the basic pharmacology of psychoactive drugs, the medical consequences of use, and therapeutic approaches for managing substance use disorder. Issues related to synergistic risk factors, detoxification, and withdrawal are also reviewed.
