- This course is required of all beginning arc welding students to assist them in developing the knowledge of safety and safe practices, fundamentals of Shielded Metal Arc Welding, power sources, and AWS classification of electrodes and electrode selection. Topics Included in this course are: Welding terminology, flame cutting, control of distortion, welding procedure specifications and pipe welding.
